The vascular malformation calculator has been developed to stimulate discussion on the natural history of vascular malformation and clinical decisions should not be made based on any part of this calculator. The calculator is for use by only neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and radiotherapist with particular interest in managing patients with arteriovenous malformation. The calculator was progammed based on the findings of Ondra et al (Ondra SL, Troupp H, George Ed, Schwab K. The natural history of symptomatic arteriovenous malformations of the brain: a 24-year follow-up assessment. J Neurosurg 73: 387-391, 1990) and the multiplicative law of probability formula outlined by Kondziolka D et al [Kondziolka D, McLaughlin MR, Kestle JRW. Therefore, please refer to the original papers and make your own critical appraisal of the limitations of the results of the calculation.
